Welcome to The Geek Girl blog – the simple ‘how-to’ guide for setting up and managing your own blog and/or website for non-techy peeps!

OK I admit it….a lot of my family and friends call me a Geek just because I know my way around a computer! But 99% of my success with the techno stuff is trial and error. I’m a complete ‘numpty’ when it comes to doing anything that involves coding – it’s all gobbledegook to me!!!

So despite being a self-confessed geek, when I was setting up my own small business website a few years ago, I found it extremely hard and very frustrating! I literally spent hours searching the internet for easy to understand instructions about how to create a blog from start to finish including registering the domain name, getting started with WordPress and how to write blog posts!

So I decided to create this site to share with you everything that I have learned along the way so that you can do it too! In fact, I will give you a step-by-step guide to what I’m doing as I build this site!

I’ve also got a whole bunch of links to my favourite websites to get you started with creating and running your own blog – like registering domain names, getting a host provider etc. plus my other recommendations on things like widgets and plugins.
